Plastic makes our lives easier
The flexibility, strength, lightness and stability of plastic packaging make them an ideal packaging material for all kinds of commercial and industrial products. Plastic makes our lives easier, safer and more pleasant, but should be recycled to protect the environment.
Plastic packaging does more than keep your food fresh on the shelf. The use of plastic has increased rapidly and the material has become an important part of our everyday life since 1960. In 2019, 388 million tonnes of plastic were produced worldwide. Thanks to its unique combination of light weight and durability as well as protective properties, plastic has become invaluable in everything from communications, the construction industry, pharmaceuticals, food and beverages to the agricultural industry.
Plastic is mainly a by-product of various fossil fuels and its production requires low levels of energy and water. Plastic packaging is more flexible and lighter than other alternatives such as glass or cardboard and reduces transport costs and the climate footprint.
